With the implementation of HPV Self Testing, which has different rules around how often a person is tested, it is critical when recording the result of the screen that the correct outcome code is used.
The outcome code is used by Patient Dashboard to know whether an HPV Self Test was done, or a Cervical Screen done.
In general, all previous outcome codes (e.g. "N" for "Normal" are interpreted as being cervical screening, NOT HPV.
The most common issue we encounter with this is using "N" to indicate a normal HPV test result, whereas you should be using "H-ND" (in Evolution).
For Patient Dashboard to know that an HPV Test has been done, you MUST use one of the following outcome codes (which are the standard codes defined by the Ministry):
Medtech32:
- H16
- H18
- HPO
- HND
- H-ND
- 1618
- HPVO
- HO-N
- HD-N
- HOLG
- HOHG
- HDLG
- HDHG
Evolution:
- HPV16
- HPV18
- HPVO
- HPVND
- HPVINV
If Evolution, we assume as HPV test has been done if the outcome code starts with "HPV".
If the CSP screening term has been used, we know that an HPV test has been done regardless of the outcome recorded.
If the most recent screening outcome indicates that an HPV test has been given then the following rules apply:
Blue: Most recent screening entry is within the last three years and indicates that patient has declined or screening has been deferred for some other reason
Red: No screening recorded
Red: Most recent screening entry recorded more than 5 years ago
Red: Most recent screening entry was recorded more than 1 year ago and was an abnormal outcome
Yellow: Most recent screening entry was recorded in last year and was an abnormal outcome
Red: There is an overdue cervical screening recall recorded regardless of the outcome recorded.
Green: HPV normal outcome recorded in the last 5 years.
Grey: The patient has been excluded from screening (has an outcome code with an outcome indicator of "Exempt") and does not have an overdue recall.
If the most recent screening outcome indicates cytology, then the "old" rules apply.
